Batters make short work of chase after Bangladesh Women restricted to just 65 for 9 in second T20I
Goswami stars as India takes series - Cricket NewsGoswami took 2 for 15 in four overs before scoring a quick, unbeaten 18.
India Women continued its winning ways in the shortest format of the game, beating Bangladesh Women by eight wickets in the second Twenty20 International, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series that serves as a warm-up for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2014.

Jhulan Goswami, the allrounder, led the way with figures of 2 for 15 in her four overs as Bangladesh was restricted to just 65 for 9 in 20 overs at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar on Tuesday (March 11). Goswami then hit  a quick, unbeaten 18 in India’s reply to take the side over the line in just 12.2 overs.

Bangladesh got off to a shaky start after opting to bat, losing Ayasha Rahman and Sanjida Islam, the openers, both of whom were run out early on. Poonam Yadav, the legspinner, then struck twice in the seventh over to remove Rumana Ahmed and Salma Khatun for ducks, reducing Bangladesh to 19 for 4.

Goswami followed that up with two scalps in one over soon after, castling Nuzhat Tasnia and Shaila Sharmin as Bangladesh was left tottering at 42 for 6 in 12.5 overs.

Bangladesh crawled past the 50-run mark, and could not add much more, setting India just 66 for victory.

Madhuri Mehta and Shikha Pandey gave India an ideal start, adding 45 for the opening wicket in just 46 deliveries before Panna Ghosh struck to remove Pandey for 16. Mehta (23) was dismissed an over later caught by Rahman off the bowling of Rumana, leaving India 47 for 2.

That brought Goswami and Harmanpreet Kaur together, and the duo knocked off the 19 runs required to seal the series without further ado, with Goswami doing the bulk of the scoring in her 13-ball innings.

The third and final T20I will be played on Thursday at the same venue.
