T20 format suits Afghanistan: Nabi
Afghanistan captain hopes players’ experience in the Dhaka Premier League will make a difference in World T20

Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi believes his team is ideally suited to the Twenty20 format. Afghanistan, which beat Bangladesh in a One-Day International in the recently concluded Asia Cup, will have a chance to reprise their heroics in the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.
"We prefer T20 cricket to ODIs. Anything can happen in T20 matches," Nabi said. "We are not targeting anything. We will just play positive cricket. We will play our natural game."
Many of Afghanistan’s players have first-hand experience of the conditions in Bangladesh, having played in the premier division of the Dhaka Premier League.
Wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad, Samiullah Shenwari, who bowls leg-spin when he’s not batting, and Nabi, will have to come up with strong performances if Afghanistan is to progress to the second round of the competition.
Najibullah Zadran and Gulbadin Naib also have experience of the conditions, in either the DPL or the Bangladesh Premier League. "Six-seven players have already played in DPL and BPL, so we are learning," said Nabi. "Our team is good in T20 bowling, batting and fielding. We will try hard to go to the second round."
Afghanistan have a genuine chance of progressing in the tournament, pitched against Bangladesh, the hosts, Nepal and Hong Kong in the first round.
"We will try hard to beat Bangladesh,” said Nabi of the team’s tournament opener on March 16. “It is good experience to play against Test nations. We got a good win against Bangladesh, which was good preparation for the World T20. We [had a chance to get] used to pitches and ground. But our first match against Bangladesh, it is still a tough match."
