Muhumuza's bowling action declared legal
Muhumuza was reported by umpires Michael Gough, Ahsan Raza and Joel Wilson following his side’s match against the Netherlands at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.
Uganda’s Deusdedit Muhumuza has been found to employ a legal bowling action after undergoing a Home Board Analysis of his action during the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier New Zealand 2014.
Muhumuza was reported for a suspected illegal bowling action under the ICC Regulations for the Review of Bowlers Reported with Suspected Illegal Bowling Actions on the first day of the tournament in Mount Maunganui on 13 January.
Muhumuza was reported by umpires Michael Gough, Ahsan Raza and Joel Wilson following his side’s match against the Netherlands at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. Under the Regulations, the bowler was required to submit to a Home Board Analysis, with a written report of the outcome of the analysis provided to the ICC within seven days.
The Home Board Analysis has been completed, and has found that Muhumuza displays hyperextension in his bowling arm which he is unable to control. The Analysis concluded that it could not see anything illegal in his current bowling action.
As such, Muhumuza is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket. Should he be reported again within a period of two years of the date of the first report, he will be required to submit to an ICC Analysis.
